Do You Want to Reset Your Health?

There is no better time than now to press the “reset button” on your health.  Stress, busyness, convenience food, sedentary lifestyles have all taken a toll on our society.  We might be living longer, but we are dying longer as degenerative diseases rob many of us from living the vibrant healthy lives we were meant to.

It’s been said that you’re only as healthy as your cells, and the truth is every day our cells are under attack.  Free radicals produced by oxidative stress are damaging all parts of our cell; lipids, proteins and DNA.  Therefore, it has been directly linked to many diseases—Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, Heart Disease, Cancer, Diabetes, and Auto Immune Disorders such as Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome just to name a few.

The way to combat oxidative stress, is to fill our body with antioxidants.  And where do we get these?  Colorful fruits and vegetables.  Unfortunately, in order to consume enough antioxidants, we would need to eat at least 5-6 servings of fruits and vegetables a day.  I don’t know about you, but it’s a good day in my house when we get 2-3 servings of each per day.  This is why the American Medical Association is now calling for a triad of health – exercise, nutrition and supplements.  These supplements are our insurance policy, making sure we get the micronutrients that our bodies need.

Now, don’t underestimate the importance of a good diet.  We can’t just take supplements and hope to be healthy.  Food is fuel or poison and in order to achieve our best health we need to recognize nutrition’s role in our overall wellness.  Research shows that combining a low glycemic diet with exercise is the key to many of our health woes.  Yet changing a lifetime worth of bad habits is completely overwhelming.  How do you fit a healthy lifestyle into your stressful and busy reality?  We all work too much, juggle too many responsibilities and our health and wellness is part of what suffers.  What we need are quality products that can give us a head start, providing us convenience without sacrificing quality or healthy optinons.  I found the key in a company called USANA and its products.
